“Losing weight is hard to do”

Losing weight is hard to do. Bottlefor2.com

I was inspired by three things to write this:

1. The Prose for thought prompt, motivation
2. Neil Sedaka
3. The fact that I am going to be a bridesmaid on the 4th of July.

A random mix you might think?

If you grew up with parents who listened to BBC Radio 2 all the time, it’s likely you’ll know the song Breaking up is hard to do  by Neil Sedaka.

Thankfully my marriage is still a very happy one, so I am not planning on doing any breaking up. But I do need to lose weight before the summer, and losing weight is hard to do. My will power isn’t at its best when it comes to food and drink.

So inspired by Mr Sedaka’s famous hit, here are my new lyrics to his song.

Losing weight is hard to do

Don’t take those carbs away from me.
This bloody diet is a misery.
No more potatoes, cut out bread too.
Oh losing weight it hard to do.

I hear that sugar is the biggest crime.
Someone tell me there’s no sugar in wine?
Without my wine I’ll be so blue,
Oh losing weight is hard to do.

They say that losing weight is hard to do,
You know, I know, we all know it’s true.
The season will change, and you know what then,
I need to lose the weight to fit in to my summer clothes again!

I beg you Lord, please help me slim.
My will power is all that is thin.
Even just an inch or two,
Oh losing weight is hard to do.

They say that losing weight is hard to do,
You know, I know, we all know it’s true.
If my diet hasn’t gone to plan,
I’ll have to be the bridesmaid who looks just like the Michelin man!

They say everything in moderation.
Obesity is the curse of the nation.
How I’ll do it, I haven’t a clue,
‘Cause losing weight is hard to do.
